Real-Time Synchrophasor System

SEL built a worldwide, real-time system using our synchrophasor products. The description below explains how it works. Click the arrow to view streaming synchrophasors from across the world in real time. Can you build a system like this? Yes! SEL meters and relays include synchrophasors as a standard feature.

System Overview:

SEL has installed an SEL-421 Protection, Automation, and Control System and an SEL-2407® Satellite-Synchronized Clock in several of our field offices. Each SEL-421 measures local power system signals at the field office. The SEL-2407 provides an IRIG-B time source to the SEL-421. The resulting Synchrophasor data is communicated over a VPN connection to SEL's Headquarters. Additionally, two SEL-421's are connected to an SEL-3306 Synchrophasor Processor, which concentrates the data streams into a single stream before forwarding the data. All of the Synchrophasor streams are then processed by an SEL-3351 System Computing Platform and displayed with a custom web application. The SEL-3351 can also perform data concentration, data archiving, and data visualization using the SEL SYNCHROWAVE® Software.
